It is a tubulin polymerisation inhibitor, a potent antimitotic, an anti-inflammatory agent and an antifibrogenic.

It has an antimitotic activity: it binds to one tubulin end and prevents its polymerisation, it causes disappearence of the mitotic spindle and blocks the cell in mitosis.
It has an anti-inflammatory activity: It inhibits IL-1 production by peripheral blood monocytes, the release of growth factors by Kupffer cells and macrophages and the chemotactic migration of inflammatory cells into the liver.
It has an antifibrogenic activity: It inhibits microtubule assembly and thus prevent the transport and secretion of collagene, it induces collagenase activity.
It has activities on liver functions: It modifies membrane fluidity, it increases membrane enzymes acivities and glycogen levels.
